Taco Salad

Taco salad is one of our favorite easy meals. I love to pack it up into individual containers and have a healthy and quick lunch throughout the week. I keep the dressing in a separate squeeze bottle so everything stays crunchy and fresh.

The toppings vary based on what I’m in the mood for that week, but I always turn to this spice mixture to season my ground turkey or beef. I use spices that are generally on hand and just toss it in while browning the meat to get the most out of all their flavors. The ground turkey turns out a little spicy but very flavorful and balances nicely with a fresh pico or cilantro dressing.

Toppings I love on my taco salad include:

Kidney or black beans
Feta or cotija cheese
Fresh lime
Black Olives
Fresh pico
Chopped cilantro
Chopped green onion
Fresh avocado
Cilantro lime ranch

Taco Seasoning

Prep: 5 minutes

  • 1lb Ground turkey or beef
  • 2tsp Chili powder
  • 1tsp Garlic powder
  • 1/4tsp Red pepper
  • 1tsp Cumin
  • 1/2tsp Paprika
  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1/4tsp Black pepper

  1. In a small bowl add all spices and mix.
  2. In a medium pan over medium-high heat add the ground meat and break into chunks.
  3. As the meat begins to cook, add the spice mixture to the ground meat and cook through.
